What to Expect on Pilates Teacher Training in London
In short: our Mat and Reformer Pilates teacher trainings run in person at The Reformer Room at yogahaven Clapham, in small groups, over six days each. You'll practise, learn the theory behind every exercise and teach from day one, with experienced trainers beside you the whole way.
If you're thinking about Pilates teacher training in London but aren't sure what the days actually feel like, this guide walks you through it.
Where you'll train
Both courses take place at The Reformer Room at yogahaven Clapham, 63 Wingate Square, London SW4 0AF, a few minutes from Clapham Common and Clapham North. Reformer training uses our Allegro 2 reformers, the same equipment our members use every day.
Who you'll learn from
Your training is led by a small, experienced team. Kelly Balmer, our Lead Educator, has a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy. Elodie Frati, an osteopath, teaches our anatomy. Taylor Benjamin, a former professional dancer, brings a sharp eye for technique, and Sian Bradbury, our Course Assessor, supports you from start to finish. The courses were created by Allie Hill and Krystal Nash, co-founders of The Reformer Room.
Small groups and plenty of feedback
We keep groups small so every trainee gets personal feedback, hands-on time and space to ask questions. Many of our graduates tell us the warm, down-to-earth atmosphere is what made the difference to their confidence.
What a training day looks like
Each day mixes three things:
Practice: you move through the exercises yourself, so you understand them from the inside.
Theory: Pilates principles, applied anatomy, safe alignment and how to adapt exercises for different bodies.
Teaching: you cue and teach your fellow trainees, with feedback from your trainers.
Mat Pilates: two long weekends
The Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Mat Pilates runs over six days across two long weekends. You'll cover the full mat repertoire from foundation to dynamic work, learn to build your own class sequences and finish with a final assessment. The qualification is accredited by Active IQ, regulated by Ofqual and recognised by CIMSPA. Next start: January 2027 (8–10 January and 12–14 February).
Reformer Pilates: three weekend modules
Our Reformer Pilates Instructor Training is taught over three progressive weekend modules: Foundations & Fundamentals, Building Your Teaching Skills, and Dynamic Practice & Sequencing. You'll leave with three ready-to-teach class sequences. Upcoming cohorts start in November 2026 and January 2027.
Between training days
You're not on your own between modules. Both courses include free studio practice time so you can come in and rehearse. The Mat course includes 10 complimentary classes, and the Reformer course includes 10 reformer class credits.
Do I need experience?
No. There are no prerequisites for either course, just a love for Pilates.
Which course should I start with?
We recommend starting with Mat, then adding Reformer. Taking both with our Mat & Reformer bundle costs £2,700, saving you £400, and if you decide to add the second course within 12 months, we'll still honour the bundle price.
