Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training

Find out more about our Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training

A holistic approach to pregnancy has become almost commonplace now with more and more mums-to-be appreciating the value yoga can bring to this special time. As such, many yoga teachers are looking to develop their skills into this specialist field. We have taken our experience of guiding yoga practice, training teachers, and being mothers here at yogahaven to bring this new, unique teacher training to you.

This course offers you the chance to embrace the full and beautiful potential to support mums and their bumps – from the earliest weeks right through to and beyond the birth - whether they are seasoned yogis or you are guiding them through their first ever moments on a yoga mat.

Our teacher on this training, Clare Maddalena is a senior teacher, doula and mother of two, she is a true inspiration and has trained over 10,000 women since becoming a yoga teacher back in 2003.

Comprehensive, experiential, and fun, we are excited to offer this new training programme and look forward to applications from teachers with all levels of experience.

The course is divided into 5 sections: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters, the birth itself, and the post natal period. We will work through theoretical and practical insights in how to help both mum and baby during each and when certain practices ought to be avoided and why.

This will include:

- Preparing the class. What you need to know before and how to set up.

- Getting to know your mums. How to understand individual and groups needs and expectations, and understanding common questions.

- Anatomy. What changes, where, when, and how.

- Nervous Systems. Both the sympathetic and parasympathetic.

- Asanas. Positions to promote healthy alignments, strength and flexibility, according to the changes in the body, as well as supporting foetal positioning.

- Breath. As a diagnostic tool and also to encourage support.

- Pranayama: Dirga, Ujjayi, Bhramari, Kapalabhatti, and Nadi Shodana

- Movement and sequencing. Working with both energy flow and physical needs.

- Bandhas. In particular working with and for the pelvic floor.

- Visualizations and meditation. To help mums gain a deeper understanding of where they are at, promote peace and health, and maintain these, no matter how plans and expectations are challenged during the trimesters, birth, and post-natal period.

- Yoga props and assistance. How to make the most of these.
