Arabic Kirtan and Dynamic Yoga with Emma Darwish and Kareem Samara
Sunday 26th November 12:15-14:45
A rare opportunity to work with musician / Yogareef founder Emma Darwish, and musician / activist Kareem Samara in an invigorating vinyasa yoga accompanied by stunning live music from the middle East, leaving you uplifted, invigorated and energised in mind - body - breath.
The session will begin with cleansing yoga breath work and vocal breathing exercises, to unblock stagnant energy and begin the creative process. We will explore a simple Arabic song accompanied by the traditional Oud and Tablah as a group (no previous experience of Arabic / singing needed!). The huge benefits of voice work and group chanting are numerous, including stronger immunity, stress relief, and sense of community and connection.
You will be lead into a mindful, dyamic flow that will challenge your mind and body at a cellular level. You will participate in floor work, standing asana, twists, arm balances and some partner work, whilst bathing in a rich sonic soundscape of live instruments and production work by the talented Kareem. There will be an opportunity for a Q and A about any challenging poses and transitions as well as aspects of the music. Your workshop will end with some static yin holds and a guide meditation / visualisation to float you away into a more balanced and recharged week ahead. An experience that promises to be deeply enriching and fulfilling.
