This workshop will explore the concepts of abhyasa (effort) and vairagya (surrender) in the context of an uplifting vinyasa flow and relaxing restorative/yin-inspired practice. Creative, playful, and insightful vinyasa krama sequences will culminate in a number of iconic arm balances (e.g. crow and its variations) and inversions (e.g., pincha mayurasana and handstand). The restorative component of the practice will hold poses for extended periods of time in order to calm the body and the mind. The inclusion of pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, and deep relaxation will ensure that you leave feeling refreshed as well as stronger. There will be a short kirtan (chanting session) at the end of the practice. An experience guaranteed to promote balance and harmony in body, mind, and spirit. This workshop is for all levels. It is suitable for those just beginning to cultivate an arm balancing practice and for those that are already frequent flyers on their hands.

This workshop will be your last chance to practice with Joe as he will be moving to the Netherlands.

Joe is a London based yoga teacher. First exposed to the practice of yoga during his doctoral studies in cardiovascular science, he was instantly drawn to its uplifting effects and healing benefits. Upon completion of his 200 hour yoga teacher training, Joe left the academic and corporate worlds to teach yoga full time in 2015. His yoga classes are praised for their creativity, accessibility, dynamic nature, and inclusion of funky postures. He also loves a good chanting session!
