Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and challenging form of yoga whihc builds strength and flexibility. In this workshop we will slow the series down and explore the poses in more depth with specific consideration to alignment and advancing the practice.
We will explore the sun salutations at the start of the series and the standing poses, specifically we will break down the transitions between each pose - the vinyasa - and go into more details on the allignment in each pose. From here we will start to explore the first few seated poses and vinyasas on the floor - jumping back and jumping through and the building blocks towards these challenging vinyasas.
We will then end with the full finishing series, breaking each pose down and looking at variations for each. This will include shoulder stands, headstands and backbends.
Students who enjoy other forms of yoga will also find this workshop beneficial as many of the poses will be familiar. Those starting their Ashtanga journey will benefit from the learning the sequence and slowing down the poses. More experienced students will learn ways of progressing their practice and vinyasas. More advanced options will be shown which can then be applied in class.
Somer experience of yoga is required and this workshop is not suitable during pregnancy.
